My name is Marady, but my friends called me Dydy. I am 16 years old. I was born in Kampong Cham province, and I currently live in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. I was raised in a poor family but we live happily together. My family believes that education is a strong weapon that can fight for a great future.

I literally knew zero English before I came to Liger Leadership Academy. After one year in Liger, my English improved rapidly. Now, I can write a blog for people all around the world.

I was inspired by a former teacher about filmmaking and it has become my passion because it encompasses screenplay, producing, filming, acting, and directing. With film, I can express my feelings, educate others about important issues, entertain with suspenseful plots, and inspire people. A couple years ago I participated in one an event called Phnom Penh Youth Film Festival. My movie got the best director and I won the best actress. This was an immense gift which pushed me to know who I am.

I recently took a risk and decided to join Advanced Placement Computer Science. This is completely new to me and I have no prior experience. I believe that one day I will know how to code and computer science will no longer be intimidating.

In Cambodia, many people believe that sports are only for boys because girls are not strong enough. I really want to show that girls ARE strong and can play sports like boys too. I consider myself an athlete and play many sports such as football, swimming, biking, running, and frisbee.  One of my favorite sports is frisbee because it is a mixed gender sport, and I have been playing since I was 12 years old. I received an opportunity this year to join the Asia Oceanic Ultimate and Guts Club Championships (AOUGCC) in the Philippines for my team, Yeak Oh, and I am also traveling to Vietnam for another tournament.

I am so proud of the person I have become. I hope everyone enjoys reading my blog and can know more about me.
