Khmer Rouge

My second exploration is Khmer Rouge which I was really interesting and I want to learn about it because it one of the sad Cambodia history. In this exploration we have a lot of trip to explore the real world and to learn know thing beside learning in class. In class we have a lot of activities that connect to the Khmer Rouge and it was a very sad sad story. We went to Siem Reap, Odor Mean Chey, and other places in Cambodia. In Siem Reap we went to the war museum, Odor Mean Chey we went to Dangrek mountain to see Tamok house, and they place in Phnom Penh we watch the documentary, listen to the speaker and we also went to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (first this place is the school and the Khmer Rouge turn this place to kill people and no one going to survive if the go their, their only 7 surviver).

Khmer Rouge (Speaker)

Khmer Rouge Exploration we went to listen to the publish speaker at NIE. This one man talking the about why foreigner need care and didn’t help Cambodia during Khmer Rouge? He said because the foreigner didn’t believe it even though the news about it they don’t want to see. They never believe it even though some people that refugee from Cambodia to Thailand and they talk about it no one believe. That why they not help. After Khmer Rouge done and some foreigners know about it they felt so regret that they not help Cambodian during Khmer Rouge.

Khmer Rouge News

This is a news my friend and I wrote about what we learn during Khmer Rouge time! Please enjoya reading it.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia April,17,1975 many Cambodians were forced to move out of Phnom Penh city do agricultural work at the countryside.The Khmer Rouge lies that there will be no trucks bringing food into Phnom Penh city. They also told people that America was going to bomb Phnom Penh so, everyone were evacuated.

On the same date above the Khmer Rouge soldiers were entering Phnom Penh. People were “waving white cloths and white shirts” to welcome the Khmer Rouge. They thought that Cambodia was about to be free but, the
Khmer Rouge took their belongings and people who refused would be killed or taken away. There was no exception to the evacuation even if people were sick, injured, old or pregnant so Phnom Penh was empty and became a “ghost city” after they had force 2 million people out of the city. Only administrative officer, soldier and factories workers are left in the city and the only shop open is the Central market.

A few days after the evacuation, the Khmer Rouge shows had another propaganda of having a ceremony “to pay homage” to those people who died during the war. In Beijing there are more than 10, 000 people and leaders celebrate r the victory over America. The Prince Norodom Sihanouk didn’t attend. He was with his mom, queen Sisowath Kossamak Neary Roth Vathana who was dead in Beijing. The prince had been in Beijing since 1970. The Chinese government had give him a lot of support both emotional and political even a comfortable villa to live in.

Change Agent Exploration

Change Agent is the first Exploration of my fifth year. This Change Agent Exploration is really interesting and it helped to change entire Cambodian. This Exploration everyone were working independently. Each students need to find three change agents people. The first person need to be hard to contact, the second need need be not hard and not easy to contact, the third person need to be easy to contact. After we find the change agent we start to find more information if them. Then we need to find their email or facebook. Then we start to write the email to send to them. We write about ourself, our school, our project and the purpose, and ask them can we interview them for five to seven minutes either by Skype or phone. After we sent the email, we start to think about what questions can we ask them. Then we sent the questions to them to let them know what are we going to ask.

This Exploration helped to change entire country, because when we interview we ask them to get an experience from all of the change agent and change maker, or the social enterprise. After we interview we share all of the things we have to all Cambodian so they can watch it and learn from it. If the interview in English we will put the subtitle so Cambodian can understand it.

Project-based learning (PBL)

Project-based learning (PBL) is one of the Exploration that help to change Cambodia. Do you know why it help Cambodia? The meaning of the project-based learning is really strong and very good project for the learner to improve their skill and explore the real world. Our school is the project-based learning school and we do this for a very long time, but for the government school they are really different from our school. They didn’t have project based learning. They just sit in the class lesson to teacher, write the lesson down then go home. So they didn’t have much knowledge to see the real situation. So PBL group went to teach the students in the government school about Project-based learning to let them have a better knowledge. We went to one school in Kratie and one school in Phnom Penh (government school) to teach the teacher about the what is PBL, how to have a interview skill, how to do good presentation, how to have a good teamwork so the teacher can teach the student in government school about all the thing that we told them. Also we made one Facebook page name Project-based learning Liger. We made this facebook page because we want all Cambodian students and teachers to be able to get help and ideas on PBL. As you know, we went to teach the teachers in two government schools and we wanted to make sure they had a resource in case they or their students had any questions about the lessons we gave them. We found out that many Cambodian teachers and students do not have computers, but many have Facebook accounts.

What is project-based learning? This definition from our own words:

Project-based learning is an educational method that involves inspiring students in problem solving and investigative activities to gain deeper knowledge, skills, and experiences; giving students the opportunity to actively explore challenging questions and real-world problems outside of the classroom resulting in realistic products, solutions or other outcomes.

 

Human of Cambodia (HOC)

My third Exploration in this year (2015-2016) is called Human of Cambodia (HOC). For this project, we want to take photos of people in Cambodia and ask some questions about their lives, their favorite things to do, their dreams in the future, etc. We are making this project because we want to have good collaboration and communication with other people, we want to improve our interview skills and the biggest purpose is we want to share to the world what Cambodian people look like and their daily lives. After we interview all of the people, we will write a caption about them, but we need it to be really creative to make it meaningful, attractive and interesting. The first day in class we brainstorm about what are the thing that interesting and meaningful so we can understand more about it, also we look at other people blog (Human of Newyork) to get some ideas. After that we learn how to write a creative writing, learn how to take photo and write a good caption to make people interesting and make sure it meaningful.

Yearbook

My second Exploration that we make our own for this year (2015-2016) is called Yearbook. In this Exploration we will make a yearbook for this school from 2015-2016. This project will continue from this whole year because we want to write all of the event that have in Liger. In this seven weeks we just get started to write all of the thing that happened in this year. When publish the book by the end of the year we will give to each student one book. This Exploration try to take photo and writing. The purpose of this Exploration, Liger have many project so when we get older we can’t remember all of the and we want to remember all of our friends and teachers. Also we want to share to the world some school don’t have any internet so they don’t know a lot about other school project if they read our yearbook they can see a lot project and activities and if they interested they can copy some ideas. This project will continue for they whole year. I this project we have only 6 students and every one have each jobs the jobs are: writing (two people), editing writing, book layout master, photographs and organizer for my jobs is editing all of the writing. This book we will keep forever to remind us what we do in this year!

Entrepreneurship1

The thing that I learned from this week were: When we run business we always have competition. So if we want our business successful we have to make something new that around us no one do it. Also we always want to added value what am mean by added value is we try to be creative and make something new of our business. Example: Our business is selling pumpkin so we can added value on it we can make it into desert, cut it into pieces to sell and take that pieces of pumpkin to make a soup, hang on the wall let people see, make our place clean and look nice. Also have a good advertising and communicate. Another thing that I have learn is: When we run business we need to have a clear plan and goal also do our business step by step and be efficient. Also what is the good place for us to sell our product? The good place that we sell our product the place have a lot of people travel a round or near the restaurant, near school, network station… Activities that helped I think of business differently are: about Nousha that she run one business because before you sell something you need to have a clear plan and motivation. Also when we just start business it really easy to fail and lose money if you just sit one please not have any advertise and communicate. When you borrow someone money you need to calculate carefully how much you earn and how much you need to pay your money back to other people. When you buy something you need to think carefully what in your house can use. Example if buy axes and in you house have knife so you can take knife deplace axes. Another activity is: where can Nousha sell her product the good place that she can sell is not near the place the people sell the same thing as her she should find good place to sell and that place have a lot of people.

Chili Sauce

Some ideas for different groups to focus on are:

  • Research about ingredients and the recipe that other company make
    • Search about what other people company good at and combine it together.
    • Then think our own what ingredients we should put in our chili sauce.
      • To show we made it in Cambodia. (need two people)
  • Make a plan for our business
    • Make it step by step  
    • Make sure we have a clear plan and know what we should. (need three people)
  • Marketing and name of chili sauce company (need three people)
    • What are good place we sell
    • And think about budget
  • Research what is other product look like and what we can do to make it better than other company. (need three  people)
    • What logo should put on our product
    • Find out what the most taste of chilli sauce they want
    • How can we added value on our company

LigerPride Yearbook

In my second Exploration for this year, and this Exploration is our idea to make it so teacher just help us little bit. For my Exploration we have six people and we making Liger Yearfourbook and our book called (LigerPride Yearbook). The year that we make is from 2015 to 2016. In the Exploration is only have seven weeks but for this seven week we just get started on the book. But we will continue to make this book until the end of the year because Liger their are many different thing happen. For this Exploration we have different job to work on, such as organizer, writing, editing, layout, photography. The suppose we make this Exploration because in Liger there are a lot of projects so when we get older like five or ten more years we can’t remember all of the thing that we do in Liger and we want to remember all of our friends and we want to see how much we get change when we get older. Also we want to share it to the world what is our projects because some school they don’t have computer so they just read our book and know more about our school and if they interested they can copy some of our idea of our projects.
